Exchange your old window air conditioner and save

Since 2007, the City of Columbia Utilities ' window air conditioner exchange has helped to reduce summer electric bills for income-eligible families.

This means those families can spend those savings on necessities.

City of Columbia Utilities is proud to continue its partnership with the opens in a new windowVoluntary Action Center and opens in a new windowBoone Electric Cooperative, enabling income-qualified customers to replace their inefficient window air conditioners at no cost.

The Window Air Conditioner Exchange is scheduled for 9-10 a.m., June 4 at Boone Electric Cooperative, 1413 Rangeline St.

The City of Columbia Water and Light's window air conditioner exchange has helped to reduce summer electric bills for income-eligible families.

City of Columbia Utilities electric customers should call the Voluntary Action Center at 573.874.2273opens phone dialer to confirm eligibility.

Eligibility requirements for the program:

  • Be a current City of Columbia Utilities electric or Boone Electric customer.
  • Have an annual income of less than 200% of the federal poverty level.
  • Participants in the program in 2024 or 2025 are not eligible in 2026.
