MaineHealth Pharmacy Opens First Retail Storefront Location

MaineHealth Pharmacy Brighton Avenue Portland offers the same access to a wide range of medications and care team expertise as the health system's hospital-based pharmacies in a convenient location.

PORTLAND, Maine - MaineHealth Pharmacy is opening its first retail storefront location on Sunday, June 14, in Portland's Pine Tree Shopping Center, 1052 Brighton Ave., Suite D. MaineHealth Pharmacy Brighton Avenue Portland will provide patients with the same medications, including specialty offerings and vaccinations, and the same level of expert pharmacy care and reliable staffing they receive at MaineHealth hospitals in a more convenient location that includes both ample parking and a drive-through option.

MaineHealth Pharmacy Brighton Avenue Portland is open to everyone, regardless of whether they receive care at MaineHealth. However, MaineHealth patients will benefit from seamlessly coordinated care between pharmacists and other members of the system's care team with easy prescription transfers and refills. Patients can access their electronic medical record, request refills and send messages to their care team through MyChart at any time.

"We know that patients come to our hospital-based pharmacy at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland because they appreciate the patient-centered expertise our team provides," said MaineHealth Director of Retail Pharmacy Services Tom Edge, PharmD. "Our goal in opening a stand-alone retail storefront is to provide patients with that same level of care and staffing in a location that is easier for them to visit."

MaineHealth also is working to make prescriptions more affordable for patients. The MaineHealth Access to Care Team coordinates with MaineHealth pharmacists to find drug discounts or lower cost alternatives. The team also can help eligible patients apply for medication financial assistance.

MaineHealth Pharmacy Brighton Avenue Portland will be open and fully staffed Monday - Friday from 7 am - 9 pm and from 8 am - 6 pm on weekends and holidays. You can learn more on MaineHealth's Pharmacy Services website.
