Ideaship, a venture capital firm by Global Technology Transfer Group, has invested in AscendArc to accelerate the development of next-generation high-throughput geostationary satellites designed to deliver affordable, scalable, and globally accessible communication solutions.
"When we met with Chris, we realized he was in the middle of a classic capital and patent inflection. We visited the manufacturing facility, spoke with key institutional backers, and grew to appreciate what Chris has accomplished in such a short amount of time. AscendArc is building a communications payload solution that has the potential to dramatically change the economics of satellite communications by offering an alternative that previously did not exist," said Michael Lubitz, Senior Managing Director and Founder of Ideaship and Global Technology Transfer Group.
Founded by Christopher McLain, AscendArc is addressing the growing demand for reliable, lower-cost connectivity solutions for non-urban regions and nations seeking sovereign control over satellite communications infrastructure. The company's modular payload architecture is designed for faster deployment, lower production costs, and higher data transmission capacity compared to traditional GEO satellite systems.
Chris brings decades of aerospace and satellite communications experience to AscendArc, with leadership roles at Boeing, Panasonic Avionics, and SpaceX. His background in high-throughput satellite payloads, in-flight connectivity systems, and Starlink enterprise engineering has shaped AscendArc's mission to redefine the future of global communications infrastructure.
