Telephone conversation with the President of the French Republic

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation today with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron.

The two leaders discussed the implications of the conflict in Iran both for the regional context in the Middle East and at the global level, focusing in particular on the impact of the hostilities on freedom of navigation. President Meloni and President Macron also reaffirmed their common commitment to supporting the Gulf nations affected by Iran's unjustifiable attacks and the security of Cyprus, as well as to averting a military escalation in Lebanon.

The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact on developments in the crisis.
