Following escalating tensions in the Middle East, several countries closed their airspace, causing widespread flight cancellations and diversions on Feb 28. Shanghai Pudong International Airport immediately activated its emergency response.

From Feb 28 to March 2, 36 flights to the Middle East were canceled, including three that safely returned to Shanghai. A total of 666 passengers received assistance during their return. The airport arranged special routes for returning passengers and provided rest areas with blankets and hot water.
Additionally, airlines extended check-in hours and provided support with luggage handling and rebooking. Airport staff members were assigned to guide passengers and assist them through the changes. For stranded travelers in transit or those without lodging, the airport arranged accommodations.

On March 3, two flights from Qatar Airways and Gulf Air were canceled. Ramada Pudong Airport Hotel provided 25 rooms for stranded passengers and crew. As further cancellations occurred, the airport collaborated with airlines to reschedule flight schedules and ensure continued support for passengers.
Passengers traveling through Pudong Airport were advised to stay updated on flight changes through official channels and plan accordingly. The airport continues to assist affected travelers and minimize disruptions during this crisis.
