The victim's body was discovered last Friday in a cooler filled with ice
LYNWOOD, Calif. - A Lynwood mother, father and grandmother were charged today with killing and torturing Isaiah H., a boy believed to be 8 years old at the time of his death last Friday.
"The horrific abuse that Isaiah endured is made even worse by the fact that, as alleged, it was at the hands of the people who were meant to love and protect him," Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said. "Our office is committed to ensuring that those responsible are held fully accountable for their actions and that justice will be secured for Isaiah."
Destiny Luckie Harrison (dob 9/18/00), Daniel Alberto Monzon (dob 9/7/00) and Ana Carcamo Zarceno (dob 4/20/80) all face one felony count each of murder, torture and child abuse resulting in death with allegations that they caused willful harm resulting in death.
Case 25CMCF01879 also charges the victim's father and paternal grandmother, Monzon and Zarceno, with being accessories after the fact.
Arraignment is scheduled for today in Department 12 of the Compton Courthouse.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim was allegedly abused by his mother, father and paternal grandmother over a long period of time. The boy succumbed to his injuries early on Oct. 24 and his body was found days later in a cooler filled with ice.
Bail for the three defendants is $2 million. If convicted as charged, they each face 32 years to life in state prison.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Head Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Hatami and Deputy District Attorney Mackenzie Teymouri of the Family Violence Division's Complex Child Abuse Section. The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The charges filed in this case are allegations. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
