A high school student is in police custody following a weeks-long investigation into repeated threats directed at students and staff of David Douglas High School.

The investigation began during the second week of December 2025 after a threat was phoned in to the high school. Over the next two months, approximately twelve additional threats were received. The threats indicated potential harm to students and staff, prompting a coordinated response between the Portland Police Bureau and school officials.

Through investigative efforts, officers identified a 15-year-old male student as the suspect. On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, East Precinct and School Liaison officers arrested the individual without incident. He was transported to the Donald E Long Juvenile Detention Center. He was lodged on multiple charges, including Disorderly Conduct in the First Degree, Telephonic Harassment, Coercion, and Harassment.

Threats of violence against schools are taken extremely seriously. Such behavior is dangerous, disruptive, and causes significant fear and anxiety for students, families, educators, and the broader community. PPB remains committed to working closely with school partners to ensure the safety of students and staff and to holding individuals accountable for actions that jeopardize public safety.
