After Marine Accident, Four Fishermen in East Belitung Receive Outboard Engines from PT Timah Tbk

Belitung Timur -- As a form of concern for coastal communities, PT Timah Tbk has provided outboard boat engines (ketinting) to fishermen who previously experienced a marine accident in the waters of East Belitung.

These engines were given to four fishermen whose boats and engines were severely damaged and rendered unusable due to the accident.

The assistance was handed over directly by PT Timah Tbk's CSR team to the affected fishermen. With the new engines, the fishermen are expected to return to sea and resume their livelihoods as before.

Sugian, the Head of the "Laut Tersenyum" Fishermen Group in Burong Mandi Village, explained that the fishermen who received the assistance had suffered marine accidents caused by extreme weather.

He expressed his appreciation for PT Timah's concern and support for the fishermen in Burong Mandi Village, as the new engines are urgently needed and quite expensive.

"Thank you to PT Timah's CSR team for helping the fishermen who experienced the accident. This really helps, especially in today's tough economic conditions where the catch is also uncertain. Buying a new engine on our own would be very difficult and costly for us fishermen," he said.

He also hopes that the synergy and collaboration with PT Timah Tbk will continue in the future, so that more fishermen can benefit from their support.

One of the fishermen who received the engine, Sudarni, expressed his gratitude and joy for the assistance provided by PT Timah. For him, this is a new opportunity to earn a living.

"I'm really grateful because the engine was badly damaged after the accident it couldn't be used anymore, and it was submerged in seawater. The accident happened during extreme weather. Thank God I made it out safely," he said.

He explained that buying a new engine was difficult for him since his income was only enough to cover daily necessities. Before receiving PT Timah's support, he had to rely on his old engine to continue fishing.

"Thank God, because if I had to buy one myself, it would be hard especially since it's not cheap. Thank you for helping me. I hope PT Timah continues to be blessed with success," he added.
