The Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences will welcome alumna LeAnne Kennedy as the Spring commencement speaker for its ceremony on May 8. A 1993 graduate of the Doctor of Pharmacy program, Kennedy has built a distinguished career in oncology pharmacy and currently serves as Director of Clinical Oncology for the Southeast Region of Atrium Health.
Kennedy completed a pharmacy practice residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital and went on to spend nearly 30 years as a clinical specialist in stem cell transplant and cellular therapy. She later served as the Oncology Clinical Manager at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and has remained deeply involved in advancing oncology pharmacy practice, including founding the North Carolina Oncology Pharmacist Association and establishing a PGY2 oncology residency program that she continues to lead today.
Kennedy has earned national recognition for her contributions to the field, including board certification in oncology, designation as a Fellow of the Hematology and Oncology Pharmacy Association, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Transplant and Cellular Therapy. She also served as president of the Hematology and Oncology Pharmacy Association from 2023 to 2024. Her connection to Campbell remains strong through her service as the first president of the CPHS Alumni Board and multiple terms supporting the College.
"Dr. Kennedy exemplifies the highest standards of leadership and service in pharmacy practice," said Dr. Jeff Mercer, dean of the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. "Her distinguished career and lifelong commitment to improving patient care and supporting Campbell make her an inspiring speaker for our graduates as they begin the next chapter of their professional journeys."
Kennedy and her husband Gary, a 1991 Campbell graduate, have two sons, Jeffrey ('20 DPT, '17) and Andrew, a sophomore at NC State University, and she is a proud grandmother to Aubrey Jane and Tucker. As commencement speaker, she will share insights from her decades of experience and encourage graduates to lead with purpose, compassion, and a commitment to excellence in healthcare.
