The City of Cedar Rapids, the City of Marion, and the Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will host a ribbon-cutting near Mt. Calvary Cemetery on October 30, 2026, at noon to celebrate the opening of the final segment of the CeMar Trail. The cemetery is located at 375 32nd St Dr SE, Cedar Rapids, with parking available on street in the surrounding neighborhoods.
This milestone marks a major step forward in expanding regional mobility and strengthening the active transportation connection between Cedar Rapids and Marion.
The final segment creates a seamless, safe, and accessible route for walking, biking, rolling, and enjoying the outdoors and connects Uptown Marion with Downtown Cedar Rapids. The project reflects years of collaboration between local governments, engineers, planners, and community advocates committed to building a healthier and more connected region.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include brief remarks from project partners, recognition of contributors, and an opportunity for attendees to walk or bike the new segment. The event is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
