WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Representative Kelly Morrison (MN-03) released the following statement on the Fiscal Year 2026 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding bill:
"ICE agents are violating Minnesotans' constitutional rights, unlawfully detaining and arresting United States citizens, racially profiling people, terrorizing our communities, forcing schools, restaurants, and businesses to close, illegally blocking our legal right and constitutional duty to conduct congressional oversight of taxpayer-funded facilities, and using increasingly aggressive, excessive, and even lethal force against Minnesotans that has left a 37 year old mother from our state dead.
"Minnesotans - and Americans across the country - are demanding that Congress finally reasserts its power as a coequal branch of government and brings this lawless agency under control. The funding bill we're voting on today completely fails to do so - and only further strengthens ICE with additional funding. I am voting NO and I implore my Republican colleagues to finally stand up for the American people, defend the Constitution, uphold the rule of law, reassert our legitimacy as a co-equal branch of government, and end the lawlessness and terror that ICE is unleashing on our people."
