TEDCO’s Karen Zuccardi Recognized as Rising Star

Celebrations were held at the MDHCC's 40th Anniversary Gala and Awards Ceremony on August 8

COLUMBIA, Md., (August 19, 2026) - TEDCO, Maryland's economic engine for technology companies, announces the recognition of Karen Zuccardi, ecosystem director, Venture Development, as the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's (MDHCC) Rising Star.

"Karen Zuccardi is a shining example of what determination and heart can achieve," said Marco V. Ávila, chairman of the Board and president of the MDHCC. "Her talent, drive and commitment to our community are truly remarkable. This recognition is well-deserved, and we have no doubt that her brightest days are still ahead. The Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is proud to celebrate a true Rising Star."

The celebration took place at the MDHCC's 40th Anniversary Gala and Awards Ceremony on August 8, 2026, where the MDHCC celebrated four decades of work and support in advancing Maryland's Hispanic business community.

"I am honored to receive this recognition," Zuccardi said. "For me, the recognition is very connected to the work we do at TEDCO - supporting entrepreneurs, building connections across Maryland, and helping create a stronger and more inclusive innovation ecosystem. I look forward to continuing my journey of supporting entrepreneurs across the state, uplifting the Hispanic community and creating an ecosystem of support."

Zuccardi leads statewide initiatives to strengthen and expand Maryland's innovation ecosystem. In this role, she works across early-stage technology and life science companies, Entrepreneurial Support Organizations (ESOs), and public and private entities to connect founders with the capital, resources and strategic networks needed to grow and scale.

Her background in international business, sustainable development and public service allowed her to design and lead startup programs. Her work focuses on bridging gaps across sectors and communities to ensure more inclusive and effective pathways to innovation and economic opportunity.
