DeLauro Statement on Passing of Nancy Wyman

NEW HAVEN -Today, US Representative Rosa DeLauro issued the following statement on the passing of Nancy Wyman, former Connecticut Lieutenant Governor, Democratic State Party Chair, and the first woman to be elected state Comptroller:

"Nancy Wyman was an inspiring leader, a trailblazer, and a tireless public servant who never stopped looking for ways to give back to her community. From her first elected position as vice chair of the Tolland Board of Education, all the way to becoming the first woman to be elected as Connecticut's State Comptroller, to then serving two terms as Lieutenant Governor and later serving as the Democratic State Party Chair, Nancy spent her life in service to the people of our state. She was a mentor to many and a friend to even more, known to people across the state for her unmatched intellect and for her singular style of heels. I had the good fortune to call Nancy a friend, and I am proud of the work that we did together, to lift up issues affecting women and families, to grow our state's economy, and to strengthen the middle class. My sympathies go out to her family during this difficult time-she will be sorely missed."
