Building on widespread acclaim at international film festivals and positive reactions from audiences, Netflix has released the final trailer for Possible Love ahead of its global release on Netflix on November 6. Possible Love follows two married couples - a laid-off worker and his spouse and a documentary filmmaker and her spouse - crossing paths to film a documentary and facing their different lives and hidden desires.
The newly released final trailer opens with Mi-ok (Jeon Do-yeon) singing the lyrics "All I Know is Love", wearing a smile tinged with sorrow. Thinking of her husband Ho-seok (Sul Kyung-gu), Mi-ok hints that he's been hiding something he's too afraid to confront - a quiet admission of the agonizing years the couple has endured since his layoff. As Mi-ok breaks into tears before the camera, Ye-ji (Cho Yeo-jeong) watches with glistening eyes, evoking curiosity about her motives. While scenes of Mi-ok and Ye-ji exchanging warm, friendly greetings show a human connection developing beyond director and subject, Mi-ok's conflicted expression while looking at Ye-ji and her husband Sang-woo suggests an insurmountable divide between them. Ye-ji subsequently suggests that both couples take a vacation together, and scenes from their getaway, alongside glimpses into Mi-ok and Ho-seok's past, heighten the intrigue over what this encounter will bring.
Critics have taken notice: "A heart-stopping stunner from Lee Chang-dong. Grade: A" (David Ehrlich, IndieWire ); "One for the ages" (Bilge Ebiri, New York Magazine ); "A shimmering, sonorous work from one of our greatest living directors" (Jessica Kiang, Variety ); "Stellar performances" (James Mottram, Radio Times ); and "The film of the year" (David Canfield, The Hollywood Reporter ). Possible Love delivers a commanding emotional resonance to critics and audiences worldwide, once again affirming Lee Chang-dong's extraordinary cinematic power.
Possible Love streams globally on Netflix on November 6.
