City to Host 25th Annual Armenian Genocide Commemoration
and Week of Remembrance Events

Glendale, CA - The City of Glendale will host its annual Armenian Genocide Commemorative Event on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the historic Alex Theatre honoring the memory of the 1.5 million lives lost during the Armenian Genocide.

This year's theme is "Memory Across Generations: The Continuing Echo of 1915," and the program will feature performances by the AGBU Choir, Lilia Dance Group, Jivan Gasparyan Jr., musical selections by students from the Sonata Music School, and a short film produced by the City of Glendale Television (GTV) team.

The City of Glendale stands with the global Armenian community not only in remembering the events of 1915, but also in recognizing the ongoing importance of awareness and cultural preservation. Through this annual commemoration, now in its 25^th year, the city remains committed to honoring the past while supporting a more informed future.

"By coming together to reflect, we honor the past while reinforcing our commitment to preserving these stories for future generations," said Mayor Ara Najarian.

The City will also host a series of events as part of the Week of Remembrance, taking place from now through the end of the month. Highlights include Armat Celebrates the Culinary Diaspora of Armenia, taking place on April 11^th, and a Lecture and Book Talk with Peter Balakian, taking place on April 30^th. Գլենդել Քաղաքը Կհյուրընկալի Հայոց Ցեղասպանության 25-րդ Ամենամյա Ոգեկոչման և Հիշատակի Շաբաթվա Միջոցառումները

Գլենդել, Կալիֆոռնիա - Գլենդել քաղաքը կհյուրընկալի իր ամենամյա Հայոց Ցեղասպանության հիշատակի միջոցառումը հինգշաբթի, 2026 թվականի ապրիլի 23-ին, ժամը 18:30-ին, պատմական Alex թատրոնում՝ հարգանքի տուրք մատուցելու Հայոց ցեղասպանության ընթացքում կորցրած 1.5 միլիոն կյանքերի հիշատակին։

Այս տարվա թեման է՝ «Սերունդների միջով փոխանցվող հիշողություն․ 1915-ի շարունակվող արձագանքը», և ծրագիրը կներառի ելույթներ AGBU երգչախմբի, Lilia պարային խմբի, Ջիվան Գասպարյան Կրտսերի կողմից, Sonata երաժշտական դպրոցի ուսանողների երաժշտական կատարումներ, ինչպես նաև կարճամետրաժ ֆիլմ՝ արտադրված Գլենդել քաղաքի հեռուստատեսության (GTV) թիմի կողմից։

Գլենդել քաղաքը կանգնած է համաշխարհային հայկական համայնքի կողքին՝ ոչ միայն հիշելով 1915 թվականի իրադարձությունները, այլ նաև կարևորելով իրազեկվածության բարձրացման և մշակութային ժառանգության պահպանման շարունակական անհրաժեշտությունը։ Այս ամենամյա ոգեկոչման միջոցով, որն արդեն անցկացվում է 25-րդ անգամ, քաղաքը շարունակում է հավատարիմ մնալ անցյալը հարգելու և առավել տեղեկացված ապագա ձևավորելու իր հանձնառությանը։

«Համախմբվելով՝ խորհելու և ոգեկոչելու համար, մենք հարգում ենք անցյալը՝ միաժամանակ ամրապնդելով այս պատմությունները ապագա սերունդների համար պահպանելու մեր հանձնառությունը», - նշել է քաղաքապետ Արա Նաջարյանը։»

Քաղաքը նաև կհյուրընկալի մի շարք միջոցառումներ Հիշատակի շաբաթվա շրջանակներում, որոնք տեղի կունենան այժմից մինչև ամսվա վերջ։ Կարևոր միջոցառումներից են «Արմատ.
