La Crescenta Avenue Rehabilitation Project Enters Final Construction Phase
Glendale, CA- The City of Glendale's La Crescenta Avenue Rehabilitation Project is entering its final phase, with roadway grinding and paving operations scheduled to begin April 13, 2026.
Over the past several months, the project has delivered improvements, including intersection realignments, enhanced pedestrian accessibility, installation of bio-retention facilities, and major infrastructure upgrades such as traffic signal improvements, fiber optic systems, and sewer mainline upsizing.
Upcoming Construction Activities
Roadway grinding and paving will take place in segments along La Crescenta Avenue from Verdugo Road to Montrose Avenue through May 1, 2026, weather and conditions permitting.
Work will occur Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and will include grinding existing pavement, applying an asphalt rubber aggregate membrane (ARAM), and installing the final asphalt surface to create a smoother, more durable roadway.
Residents are encouraged to move vehicles to driveways or nearby streets during posted times and to turn off irrigation systems on paving days to help prevent delays and protect work areas.
Emergency access and regular trash service will be maintained throughout construction.
Impacted Areas
Intermittent lane closures will occur along La Crescenta Avenue between April 13 and May 1, 2026 (excluding weekends and holidays), with paving progressing block-by-block between Verdugo Road and Montrose Avenue.
Project Timeline
The remaining construction schedule includes:
  • April 2026: Roadway resurfacing
  • May 2026: Installation of street signs, striping, and bike lanes
  • June 2026: Installation of decorative crosswalks at signalized intersections and application of reflective "cool pavement" on Paloma Avenue
The project is expected to be completed in June 2026.
The City of Glendale appreciates the community's continued patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure project nears completion.
