WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA) announced $73,600,752 in federal funding to improve three Virginia airports. This funding is awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Airport Terminals Program, which provides competitive grants for airport terminal improvements, airport-owned airport traffic control towers, and on-airport rail and bus projects that improve multimodal connections. The program is made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that the senators helped negotiate and pass.
"We're thrilled to announce more than $73 million in federal funding to improve the safety, efficiency, and accessibility of three Virginia airports," said the senators. "The investments made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law have been critical in improving passenger experience and bringing our Commonwealth's and country's airports into the 21st century."
The program grants are allocated as follows:
Sens. Warner and Kaine have been fierce supporters of efforts to modernize and improve Virginia's airports. Earlier this month, the senators announced more than $21 million in federal funding to upgrade 8 Virginia airports. Last year, the senators announced almost $106 million in federal funding for airports across the Commonwealth. Many of these grants were made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, legislation that has secured billions in federal funding for airport infrastructure since 2021.
