AIE February 2026 Safety and Training Rewind

Basic Regulator School

Feb. 2-4

Fletcher-Reinhardt's Alyx Hedgpeth, Kevin Reinhardt, Brian Hunter and Tommy Mansfield presented the course as part of the AIEC Illinois Rural Electric Apprenticeship Program (IREAP). It is recommended for third-year IREAP apprentices and covers capacitors, voltage regulators and reclosers.

2026 Retirement Seminar

Feb. 12-13

Presenters at this year's seminar featured NRECA's Ben Tiernan on retirement plans and distribution options; Sandy Leith of the Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) on Medicare; Drew Davis, Maxwell Cook and Joshua Jacoby of BOS investment Services on financial planning; the Social Security Administration's Jack Myers; and AIEC's John Teefy on legal consideration for retirees regarding wills, trusts and powers of attorney.

Storm Spotter Training

Feb. 17

Ed Shimon of NWS Central Illinois presented this two-hour course. Severe weather spotters are a vital part of the warning process and play a critical role in getting timely warnings out to the public.

NRECA BLC 976 | Power Supply Decision Making

Feb. 24

Scott Luecal instructed directors and co-op CEOs regarding G&T decision points involved with future power supply decisions. The course is part of the 2025-2026 AIEC Continuing Education Program.
