Muskoka, ON -- As the 2022-2026 term of District Council comes to a close, the District Municipality of Muskoka is recognizing District Chair Jeff Lehman and members of Council for four years of service to the community.
Throughout the term, Council worked alongside District staff, community partners and Muskoka's six Area Municipalities to advance projects and services that support residents.
Key milestones included the Big Move on Housing, the redevelopment of Fairvern Long-Term Care Home, expanded paramedic services and new child care spaces. Council also supported investments in roads, water and wastewater systems, and local health care projects, while delivering the second-lowest tax increase of all regional governments in Ontario.
Other achievements included the introduction of the clear bag program to reduce waste, the District's first multi-year budget and initiatives celebrating Muskoka's history, culture and diversity. This Council made particular efforts to ensure all areas of Muskoka received attention to their unique needs, one example being a new investment in improving low-volume roads. When severe weather struck, Council also helped guide the District through major emergencies, including winter storms and flooding.
