President and Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discuss current situation in Ukraine, Finland's participation in international crisis management and the situation in Iran and the Strait of Hormuz

In their meeting on Friday 17 April, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the current situation in Ukraine and the need to continue to provide strong support for Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia.

They also discussed Finland's participation in international crisis management. This year, Finland marks 70 years of engagement in military crisis management. Finland currently has approximately 360 soldiers participating in ten military crisis management operations through the UN, the EU and NATO.

In addition, the President and the Ministerial Committee discussed the situation in Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. Finland is involved in the international talks on restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and supports the peaceful resolution of the conflict through diplomacy.
