CONCORD, NH - Following a letter from Governor Kelly Ayotte urging them to take quick action to help lower Granite Staters' electric bills, ISO New England has confirmed it will fast-track market rule changes to reduce unnecessary costs. The current system has driven up energy costs by nearly $1 billion since March 2025 - far exceeding the projected $140 million cost.
"I'm pleased to hear ISO New England is taking action to save nearly $1 billion and ensure Granite Staters don't face additional unnecessary costs," said Governor Ayotte. "I am going to continue working to lower electric bills and deliver affordable energy to our state."
Governor Ayotte has made lowering Granite Staters' electric bills and reducing energy costs a critical priority of her administration, including issuing an Executive Order directing the New Hampshire Department of Energy to bring together lawmakers, industry experts, and other stakeholders to develop a roadmap for next-generation nuclear power in the Granite State. Earlier this month, her nominee to chair the Public Utilities Commission, Chris Ellms, was confirmed by the Executive Council with affordability as a "top priority".
