Apply now for 2027 energy-water systems research seed funding

Seed funding opportunities are now available from The Idaho Community-Engaged Resilience for Energy-Water Systems (I-CREWS). Made possible by the National Science Foundation and Idaho's Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR), seed funding is available to applicants pursuing research on the intersections and challenges of Idaho's energy-water systems.

Small Seed awards of up to $55,000 are available to support innovative research and education projects that address energy-water system challenges in Idaho and help position investigators for future external funding. Faculty, researchers, postdoctoral scholars, tribal organizations, colleges, universities and eligible nonprofit organizations in Idaho are encouraged to apply.

Deadlines

Proposals are due by 1 p.m. MST on Nov. 18, 2026.

Boise State applicants should submit applications through the pre-award process. Once approved, submit the PDF application through the Idaho EPSCoR application link.

Idaho EPSCoR is hosting optional online Seed Funding Open Forums to provide more information about the I-CREWS Seed Funding program. Interested parties can register for one or more of the following times.
