Updates regarding convocations on Friday and Commencement on Saturday

Commencement week is here, and we're looking forward to celebrating with the Class of 2026. With two upcoming outdoor events, we have been monitoring the weather, and we have some updates for Friday and Saturday.

Rain is in the forecast, and all graduation ceremonies (Convocations and Commencement) are rain or shine events. At this time, the National Weather Service isn't predicting severe weather, so Friday's Lerner College Undergraduate Convocation and Saturday's main Commencement ceremony will go on as planned. We encourage all to dress for the weather.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Small, personal-sized umbrellas are permitted in the stands. Please be mindful of those seated around you when raising and lowering your umbrella.

  • For safety and clear sightlines, umbrellas are not permitted for those seated on the field (including graduates, guests in ADA seating, faculty and alumni delegates).

  • Ponchos will be available at entry for all seated on the field.

  • On Saturday, Commencement ticket holders who would prefer to watch the ceremony from indoors can do so at the Bob Carpenter Center, which will be open as a refuge with the live stream playing. Access is available through Delaware Stadium.

All other ceremonies are indoors. Guests may bring umbrellas for use to and from venues, but are asked to keep them closed while inside.

All ceremonies will be livestreamed at udel.edu/udlive.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026!
