Debra Shigley Clinches Double-Digit Overperformance in Georgia Senate District 21 Runoff Arrow

In a Trump +34 district, Debra Shigley's overperformance continues the trend of overperformances or victories in special elections for Democrats this year

Tonight, Debra Shigley pulled off another massive overperformance in her bid for Georgia Senate District 21 in a Trump +34 district. Shigley's efforts forced Republicans to spend more than a million dollars defending this deep red district.

Over the weekend, DNC Chair Ken Martin traveled to Georgia and campaigned for Shigley in Alpharetta, highlighting the DNC's commitment to organizing everywhere, even in ruby red districts.

With tonight's result, Democrats have now won or overperformed in 44 of 45 key elections this year - a clear sign that Americans are putting their faith in the party of the working class - not billionaires and elites.

In response to tonight's historic overperformance, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

"Debra ran an incredible campaign focused on lowering costs for hard-working Georgians and protecting their health care. Time and time again, we're seeing the same trend. Democrats are winning and overperforming in virtually every election because we're focused on bettering the lives of working families instead of billionaires and the elites. When Debra and I knocked on doors together over the weekend, we heard from Georgians fed up with Donald Trump raising their costs and jeopardizing their health care - and tonight's overperformance showed once again that voters are making their opposition known at the ballot box. By overperforming this Trump +34 district, another important trend is clearly emerging - Republicans are running scared across the country while Democrats are standing their ground and winning in red, blue, and purple districts."
