MONROE - On October 21, 2026, United States Chief District Judge Terry A. Doughty sentenced Demorion "Duck" Baker 30, of Monroe, to 30 years in federal prison for multiple counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances including Cocaine, Alprazolam, Marijuana, and Methamphetamine, and for Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking. His sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release.
Baker was also ordered to forfeit to the United States a Texas Shooter Supply AR, a Diamondback Arms rifle, a Romarm pistol, a D-Technik pistol, a Glock pistol, and ammunition. (Two of the weapons depicted below.)
Baker was previously convicted on May 27, 2026, after a two-day trial before Judge Doughty. The jury deliberated for only an hour before rendering the guilty verdicts.
According to evidence presented at trial, this case began when a separate Monroe-area individual was found in possession of more than five pounds of methamphetamine and identified Baker as the supplier. Acting on this information, law enforcement executed a search warrant at a vacant residence identified as Baker's stash house. Inside, agents discovered approximately one kilogram of cocaine, one kilogram of methamphetamine, more than one thousand counterfeit ecstasy tablets, eighty-five pounds of marijuana, four assault-style firearms, and 860 rounds of ammunition. Investigators linked Baker to this residence through mail addressed to him, a laptop with a specific username, and an iPhone containing communications between Baker and his brother. Further, Baker's DNA was found on three of the four firearms.
Agents later obtained an arrest warrant for Baker and searched another residence he frequented. Baker was arrested there in possession of approximately 500 grams of cocaine and a handgun.
U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller for the Western District of Louisiana made the announcement.
The Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Monroe Police Department, Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, West Monroe Police Department, Metro Narcotics Unit, and the Louisiana State Police investigated this case.
It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Samuel S. Crichton and Cheyenne Y. Wilson, with assistance from Paralegal Specialist Emily Favrot.
