Happy Independence Day to all of our friends and family from India. What a great celebration. I'm here with Senator Jeremy Cooney. Senator Jeremy Cooney is a great, great friend of mine, the first Indian American elected to the United States Senate from New York. I want to thank him for all he does. I just gave you a big promotion - United States Senate. Senator Jeremy Cooney deserves a big round of applause

We're celebrating the birth of the world's largest democracy. And our little bit smaller democracy here in America is celebrating its 250th. But you're larger, impactful in setting the voices of freedom all around the world. And I've been so proud to stand with this community. Everything from joining in your beautiful, beautiful Diwali celebrations - I attend all of them - to making Diwali a school holiday here in New York City so families can stay together. And our AAPI Commission looking at ways we can lift up the voices of the Indian community.

I want you to know this: I treasure you, I honor you, I celebrate you, and my husband brings me Indian food at least once a week. So I love the food, the music, the dance, the culture and the vibrancy of all of our business and our residents here.

So thank you for giving me the privilege to be your Governor. Happy Independence Day, everyone. I want to present an important proclamation from the State of New York, a citation to the Federation of Indian Associations. It's a really long, nice proclamation that I'm not going to read today, but if you want to see it, stop by the offices. But it acknowledges the momentous occasion of all of us marching in this beautiful parade. Thank you very much, everyone.
