State v. Quinterius Sutton

Decatur, Ga.- DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston announces the conviction by jury trial of a Tucker man accused of shooting and killing a man outside a pub.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, a jury found Quinterius Sutton, 28, guilty of two counts of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony in connection with the death of Trevor Stephenson, 21, on August 23, 2023.

According to the investigation, officers with the DeKalb County Police Department responded shortly after 8:30 p.m. to a report of a person shot outside a pub in the 3200 block of Tucker Norcross Road in Tucker. When they arrived, police found Stephenson lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Some bystanders had tried to perform CPR, but Stephenson did not survive his injuries.

Through their investigation, police identified Defendant Sutton as the shooter. In an interview with detectives, Sutton admitted to shooting Stephenson, but claimed it was in self-defense. Defendant Sutton said he was standing at the entrance of the pub when Stephenson showed up and shot at him. Surveillance video from the business showed Defendant Sutton firing his gun but did not capture Stephenson's arrival.

Crime scene investigators recovered 11 bullet casings from the scene. Testing revealed all of the casings were from the same weapon, meaning that Stephenson did not fire at Sutton.

Immediately after the verdict, Senior Judge Arch W. McGarity, who presided over the trial sitting by designation for the Superior Court, sentenced Defendant Sutton to Life with the Possibility of Parole, plus 15 years, which he will serve consecutively to a Life Sentence imposed earlier this summer.

On June 1, 2026, Defendant Sutton pleaded guilty to Malice Murder, two counts of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony in the shooting death of Anderson Adonay-Perdomo, 23, at a gas station in Chamblee in March 2024.

The case, assigned to the Homicide and Gangs Unit, was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Tauri Williams, with assistance from Assistant District Attorney Lane Cannon, District Attorney Investigator A. Zackery, and Victim Advocate LaTonya Gates. DeKalb County Police Department Detective J. Cummings led the initial investigation.
