ICMA Recognizes City Manager with Good Governance Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) has named City Manager Kimbra McCarthy (City of Mountain View, California) as the very first recipient of the Good Governance Award, recognizing exceptional professional achievement and a distinguished commitment to strengthening local government and the communities it serves.

The Good Governance Award is among ICMA's professional achievement honors and recognizes individuals whose leadership, service, and contributions have made a meaningful and lasting impact on the local government management profession. This award highlights an exemplary partnership between an elected body and city manager who have made outstanding contributions to ethical leadership, transparent decision-making, accountability, and effective governance in local government.

McCarthy will be formally recognized during ICMA's Annual Conference in Long Beach, California, Oct. 17-21, 2026.
