City of Olathe Fleet Services Earns National Recognition

The City of Olathe is proud to announce that Olathe Fleet Services has been ranked #12 in the 2026 100 Best Fleets in North America competition, presented by the North American Fleet Association. This marks a significant rise from the City's #57 ranking in 2025, reflecting a year of exceptional progress and performance.

Olathe Fleet Services plays a critical role in supporting the City's daily operations, maintaining more than 1,400 units with a dedicated team of 27 professionals. The division provides essential maintenance and support for a wide range of departments, including Fire, Police, Public Works, Utilities, Parks, and Sanitation-requiring a high level of technical expertise and coordination.

The 100 Best Fleets program evaluates organizations across North America using key performance indicators such as technology adoption, operational efficiency, fleet availability, maintenance practices, employee development, safety, fuel management, parts operations, and overall asset management. Olathe's strong performance across these areas contributed to its rise as one of the top-ranked fleets on the continent.

Olathe Fleet Services continues to lead through measurable results and forward-thinking initiatives:

• Approximately $500,000 saved annually through the use of alternative fuels, including compressed natural gas in the sanitation fleet
• A low 2% return rate for vehicles after repair, demonstrating high-quality maintenance practices
• Nearly 40% reduction in total cost of ownership for natural gas trucks compared to diesel vehicles
• Strong fleet availability rates, including 95% for Police, 91% for Sanitation, and 88% for Fire assets
