Prime Minister Rama will pay a visit to Aachen, Germany (13-14 May), to attend the traditional ceremony for the awarding of the Charlemagne Prize, regarded since 1950 as one of Europe's highest honours for individuals and institutions that have made outstanding contributions to the unity and advancement of Europe.
This year, the 2026 Charlemagne Prize is awarded to former President of the European Central Bank and former Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Draghi, in recognition of his decisive role in safeguarding the stability of the European Monetary Union. At the same time, this distinction conveys a clear political message: that Europe's future, sovereignty, and strength are inextricably linked to the resilience and power of its economy.
