Dentons advises UniCredit on financing for large solar and battery storage project in Bulgaria

May 14, 2026

Global law firm Dentons has advised UniCredit as sole global coordinator, mandated lead arranger and bookrunner, together with a group of lenders and including Raiffeisen Bank International AG, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, United Bulgarian Bank and Eurobank Bulgaria - on a major renewable energy financing deal with SUNOTEC and Solaris Energy.

The financing will be used to develop a largescale solar plant with a total capacity of 171.5 MW as well as a battery storage portfolio of 479.4 MWh in Bulgaria. Together these assets create one of Bulgaria's largest and most advanced renewable plus storage clusters.

The transaction confirms Dentons' market-leading position in Bulgarian solar and BESS development financing, having worked on a number of similar transactions over the last few years.

Partner Mark Segall, Co-head of the Banking and Finance practice in Warsaw, led Dentons' cross-border legal team, which included partner Maria Tomescu and associate Cristina Staicu in Bucharest, as well as trainee Emilia Folkert in Warsaw.
