IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER
Reporting Requirement(s) Not Met for Mansfield City
We were required to report 43 GRR (galvanized requiring replacement) notices to the State. Our system
failed to demonstrate to the State that it delivered annual notifications and information to affected
consumers with lead, galvanized requiring replacement, or lead status unknown service lines as required
by July 1, 2025. Although the failure to comply with the reporting requirement does not create a risk to
public health, we are required to inform you of this violation and provide additional information including
what we did to correct the situation. It is important for consumers to know if the water they are receiving
has been delivered through a lead, galvanized requiring replacement (GRR), or lead status unknown
service line so they can make decisions on whether and what actions to take to reduce their exposure to
lead in drinking water.
What should I do?
There is nothing you need to do at this time. You do not need to boil your water or take other actions.
Remember, boiling water does not remove lead from water. For more information on reducing lead
exposure around your home/building and the health effects of lead, visit the EPA's websites at
https://www.epa.gov/ground-water-and-drinking-water/basic-information-about-lead-drinking-water and
http://www.epa.gov/lead.
What is being done?
Since being notified of the non-compliance the City of Mansfield has worked to identify the 43 recorded
GRRs. Through records and field investigation, it has been determined that all 43 were classified as GRR
in error and no GRR notices are required to be issued. We will provide the other required notifications to
persons served before 12/31/2025.

those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments,
nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a
public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.*

YOUR DRINKING WATER HAS BEEN TESTED AND IS SAFE TO DRINK.
However, we experienced a rapid mix failure so the City of Mansfield public water system did not
meet treatment requirements.
Rapid mix is an integral part of conventional surface water treatment and responsible for allowing contact
time for pre-treatment chemicals.
Beginning on December 9, 2025, we failed to provide adequate conventional surface water treatment
when the rapid mix failed to operate properly. This is an ongoing issue that is currently being addressed.
Water quality is still being monitored regularly.
What should I do?
• You do not need to boil your water or take other corrective actions. However, if you
have specific health concerns, consult your doctor.
• People with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and some elderly people
may be at increased risk. These people should seek advice about drinking water from
their health care providers.
What does this mean?
• This situation does not require that you take immediate action. If it had been, you would have
been notified immediately.
• Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms. These organisms include
bacteria, viruses, and parasites which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea,
and associated headaches.
• These symptoms, however, are not caused only by organisms in drinking water, but also by other
factors. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical
advice.
What happened? What is being done?
We did not have a rapid mix before installation of the rapid mix pumps this year. After routine
maintenance our rapid mix pumps failed to start, but did not harm our drinking water. We have
investigated and are taking the necessary steps to correct this issue.
