OCALA, Fla. (July 17, 2026) - Ocala Electric Utility (OEU) has been honored with the first-ever Utility Award of Excellence by the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA), recognizing the utility's outstanding commitment to reliability, safety, innovation and service to its community.
The award was presented during FMEA's annual conference banquet in Palm Beach and recognizes member utilities that have distinguished themselves through exceptional system enhancements, strategic investments and innovative initiatives that strengthen Florida's public power communities.
OEU has earned national and state recognition for electric system reliability and workplace safety, actively participates in industry education and mutual aid efforts, and recently launched the City Path Training Academy to introduce students and young adults to careers in the utility industry.
"OEU exemplifies excellence through an unwavering commitment to reliability, safety and community engagement," said Amy Zubaly, executive director of FMEA. "This standout utility has been the recipient of many other FMEA awards over the years, and it is our distinct pleasure to present them with our first-ever Utility Award of Excellence."
FMEA is the statewide trade association representing Florida's public power utilities. The association actively represents and advocates for member cities' interests on a wide variety of state and federal issues, provides emergency response and mutual aid coordination, provides education and training for members and serves as a clearinghouse for industry news and information.
