Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau launches Kick it in CoMo campaign to prepare for 2026 World Cup

(COLUMBIA, MO)-

In anticipation of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is launching its "Kick it in CoMo" campaign to welcome international and domestic visitors and foster community engagement. With Kansas City as a host location, Columbia is an ideal position to serve as a celebration hub and a welcoming waypoint for travelers attending the matches.

"Our proximity to Kansas City, combined with our engaged community, makes Columbia a great destination for travelers from around the world and across the country to visit during the World Cup," CVB Director Amy Schneider said. "It's also a great opportunity to partner with local businesses and events to make a positive local impact. We're excited to welcome people to CoMo to kick it with us and share the excitement of this once-in-a-lifetime event."

Through Kick it in CoMo, the Columbia CVB will serve as the central hub for information, coordination and promotional resources. Kick it in CoMo includes the following:

  • A dedicated page on the CVB's websitefeaturing information for visitors, the community, industry partners and local businesses

  • Marketing both regionally and internationally to attract potential international and domestic visitors to the area

  • A Kick it in CoMo brand kit, including logos, social media templates, poster designs, travel logistics graphics and more

  • An organized Adopt-a-Team program so businesses can let team fans know where to watch their matches

  • Information about watch parties, licensing through FIFA, special event permits and more

  • A webinar series launching in late February to prepare community partners for additional visitors

  • A special section of the CVB's Calendar of Events dedicated to community events and initiatives related to the World Cup

In addition to the above features, the CVB will send frequent communicationsto industry partners, the community and the media. The CVB also continues to meet with local partner organizations and businesses to facilitate collaboration, share information and plan for influxes of visitors.
