JOLIET, IL - The City of Joliet today announced a proposed Community Investment Commitment from Hillwood and PowerHouse Data Centers related to the development of the Joliet Technology Center, a major technology infrastructure project that could bring significant economic investment and job creation to the community.

Under the proposed framework, the developer has committed up to $100 million to improve Joliet's sidewalks, streets, and City services. An initial $20 million would be provided to the City within 30 days of closing on the property. Additional contributions of $20 million would be provided prior to the issuance of building permits for each of the four phases of the development.

The proposed agreement will be considered by the Joliet City Council on Monday, March 16, as part of the broader development proposal.

"The Joliet Technology Center proposal represents a significant investment in our community," said Joliet City Manager Beth Beatty. "These commitments are an essential part of the City's review process and help ensure that Joliet has the resources needed to support infrastructure and the needs of our community. This is a proactive approach to planning for a project of this scale while strengthening our long-term economic future and protecting residents."

This investment is in addition to other fees, taxes, and obligations outlined in the development agreement. Together, these investments will strengthen the City's infrastructure and support the community as the project moves forward.

If approved, the Joliet Technology Center project has the potential to bring substantial long-term investment and economic activity to the region while expanding Joliet's role in advanced technology infrastructure.

The City of Joliet's dedicated webpage for the proposed data center project can be found at Joliet.gov. This site serves as a centralized location for available documents, materials, and updates so residents can easily access project information.
