École Polytechnique and L'ENSAE Paris, founding members of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, have announced the launch of a new master's program dedicated to AI and quantitative finance.

Called "AI for Markets and Quantitative Investment (MaQI)", this innovative program aims to use AI to overcome some of the current limitations encountered in financial markets and quantitative investment in order to solve complex problems.

The program goes beyond pure technical skills and incorporates a detailed understanding of modern financial business models, naturally opening doors for future graduates to FinTech and tech start-ups in finance and third-party management. Whether they choose to join hedge funds or banks, or pursue a PhD, they will be ready to lead major innovation projects.

The creation of this program responds to a strong call from all players in the sector. It already enjoys support from leading players: BNP Paribas, a leading investment bank; Qube Research & Technologies (QRT), a major quantitative investment fund; S&P Global, a global provider of alternative data; and the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF), which is actively involved in its implementation to integrate regulatory issues.

Students will benefit from cutting-edge teaching, including generative AI applied to the analysis of financial documents and structured data, as well as machine learning dedicated to risk management and portfolio construction.

The program's major innovation lies in its second-year (M2) teaching structure. Each course will be co-taught by two professors: an expert in machine learning/AI and an expert in quantitative finance.

Taught entirely in English, the MAQi Master's program ranks among the best Anglo-Saxon universities. The Master 1 (M1) program, with its strong international focus, attracts outstanding students from around the world, ensuring great cultural diversity within the Master 2 (M2) class.

The program, led by Charles-Albert Lehalle (École Polytechnique) and Vianney Perchet (ENSAE Paris), will begin in September 2026.

It complements École Polytechnique's already extensive AI training offering in its MSc&T programs, which include the MSC&T "Trustworthy and Responsible AI (TRAI)" and the MSc&T "Data Science and AI for Business," in partnership with HEC, ranked second in the world in the QS2026 in Business Analytics ranking, and the MSc&T "Visual and Creative Artificial Intelligence (Ai-VIC)."
