NYC Department for the Aging Launches Annual Farmers Market Nutrition Program

Community-based organizations across the city will distribute coupon booklets to eligible older New Yorkers to purchase healthy and nutritious foods

New York, NY - To promote access to healthy foods and reduce food insecurity among older adults, New York City Department for the Aging has launched its annual Farmers Market Nutrition Program. Once again, eligible older adults will be able to receive coupon booklets at participating community-based organizations across the city.

Over 370 community organizations are participating to hand out 27,500 coupon booklets worth $25. Booklets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and must be used by Monday, November 30, 2026.

Coupon booklets are being distributed at various older adult centers and nonprofit organizations in each borough. Each booklet is worth $25 and contains five (5) coupons that can be used at participating farmers markets, farm stands, and mobile markets. Items that can be purchased include fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, and cut herbs.

To receive a coupon booklet, New York City residents must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 60 years of age
  • Meet household income requirements:
    • $2,461/month (for a one-person household);
    • $3,337/month (for a two-person household);
    • $4,212/month (for a three-person household).

An individual with power of attorney or a proxy may use the coupons at a participating vendor.
