NISKAYUNA, NY - May 19, 2026 - Signaling the dawn of a new era in commercial and military jet engine design, a team of top AI researchers at the GE Aerospace Research Center in Upstate New York successfully demonstrated a new generative AI-powered app that produced a preliminary design layout for a hypersonic ramjet engine in mere seconds, satisfying all requirements.

Vinciquerra noted that GE Aerospace researchers are also expanding the application of their innovative generative AI design app to accelerate commercial jet engine technologies through the CFM International RISE* program. The RISE program is advancing a suite of technologies like open fan architecture for next generation narrowbody engines.
Generative AI designed Hypersonic Dual Mode Ramjet
As part of the hypersonic ramjet design proof of concept, GE Aerospace researchers were able to simultaneously account for multiple flight conditions and scenarios that a customer would typically outline to inform their design. Using GE Aerospace's generative AI app allows engineers to reduce this early design study work from weeks and months to seconds in a day to arrive at a similar result.
