(Houston, TX) -On Friday, July 24, 2026, Congressman Al Green, a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, will participate in the oversight forum "Seeking Justice: Oversight of ICE's Use of Force in the Death of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo," with fellow Members of Congress at 11:00 a.m. CT. This forum will be hosted by Congressman Adriano Espaillat, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair; Congressman Bennie G. Thompson, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security; and Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia.
The forum will feature testimony from Mr. Salgado Araujo's family, Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare, faith leaders, and community advocates. The forum is part of ongoing congressional oversight efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and justice. A press conference will follow the forum at 1:00 p.m. CT.
Congressman Al Green stated, "I am honored to stand with my colleagues as we seek answers, advance accountability, and reaffirm the principle of equal justice under the law. The death of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo demands transparency, accountability, and a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding ICE's use of force. We owe it to Mr. Salgado Araujo's family, the Houston community, and the American people to seek the truth, ensure justice, and determine what reforms are necessary to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future. In a democracy, no agency and no official is beyond accountability."
