County Executive McCoy Announces Proposed Sale of the Albany County Probation Building

Post Date:01/07/2026 1:51 pm

County Executive Daniel P. McCoy today submitted a request to the Albany County Legislature to approve the sale of the current Albany County Department of Probation, located at 60 South Pearl Street, to Sequence Development & Spraragen Partners for the amount of $1,750,000. This building is nearing the end of its service life, as it requires a large number of infrastructure improvements that will be extremely costly. Rather than continuing to house the Probation Department at this location, they will be relocated so the building can be sold for the highest and best use. The proposed sale will go before the full legislature for approval during their meeting on Monday, February 9th.

"This is about responsible management of county property. By bringing this resolution forward, we're making sure taxpayers get fair value while opening the door to new investment and economic activity. The sale of 60 South Pearl Street will strengthen our financial position, support redevelopment, and allow us to focus on delivering the excellent services residents expect," said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy.

This sale builds on the County Executive's efforts to revitalize the area surrounding State Street, in the heart of downtown. Albany County recently purchased several properties near MVP Arena to promote economic activity and provided support for the historic expansion of the Albany Capital Center.
