UMHB Wind Ensemble to Share Stage with San Antonio Brass Band This Weekend

BELTON, Texas-The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) Wind Ensemble will welcome professional musicians from the San Antonio Brass Band for a special collaborative performance on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Sue & Frank Mayborn Performing Arts Center. The free concert begins at 3:00 p.m. and will bring professional brass musicians together with UMHB's student musicians for an afternoon of music, mentorship, and collaboration. The community is invited to attend this special performance.

"This is an incredible opportunity for our students to experience what it means to make music alongside professional musicians," said Michael Garasi, UMHB professor and director of the Wind Ensemble. "They're not only performing with outstanding musicians, but they're also learning from them, listening to them, and experiencing firsthand the level of musicianship and collaboration that makes a great ensemble."

Garasi brings extensive international experience to his work with UMHB's student musicians. He has served as principal conductor of the internationally acclaimed Brass Band of Battle Creek since 2013 and has been recognized around the world for his work in the brass band community.

For UMHB students, Saturday's performance offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from professional musicians and gain valuable experience performing alongside accomplished artists. For audiences, it offers a chance to hear the artistry that comes from bringing professional and collegiate musicians together.
