City of Indio to Unveil Desi Memorial Mural Honoring Indio Local in Downtown Indio
The City of Indio invites the community to attend the unveiling of the Desi Memorial Mural, a heartfelt tribute honoring the life and legacy of Desirae "Desi" Ava Grace Cechin, a young Indio resident who bravely battled Stage IV High-Risk Neuroblastoma cancer. The mural, created by artist Patrick Barwinski, is located at Loma Linda Children's Hospital in Downtown Indio and serves as a vibrant and meaningful symbol of Desi's strength, courage, and lasting impact on the community.
In addition to its artistic beauty, the mural incorporates augmented reality (AR) technology, offering a one-of-a-kind mixed reality experience. Using a smartphone, viewers will be able to see the mural come to life through an interactive digital layer that adds a dynamic storytelling element to the artwork.
The community, artist, and Desi's family will gather to celebrate the unveiling of this special piece and reflect on the powerful legacy Desi leaves behind.
