Cedar Street Bridge overnight eastbound lane closure May 12 and 13

PEORIA - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced overnight eastbound lane closures on the Cedar Street Bridge (Illinois 8/116) over the Illinois River on May 12 and 13.

The lane closures are to accommodate painting work on structural steel repairs on the underside of the bridge, that will last from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. both nights. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
