Created by Mayor Bass, ProcureLA provides L.A. businesses with targeted services, guidance, and resources to compete and secure major contracts ahead of major events
LOS ANGELES - Today, Mayor Bass announced that her ProcureLA program has helped secure more than $45 million in contracts for small and local businesses in Los Angeles. Small and local businesses are the backbone of Los Angeles' economy, and Mayor Bass is determined to ensure that L.A.'s businesses can access major contract opportunities. ProcureLA provides L.A. businesses with targeted services, guidance, and resources to build a pipeline of businesses ready to compete and secure major contracts ahead of major events including the 2028 Games. "L.A.'s small businesses are the backbone of our city, and we must ensure they benefit economically from all of the major events on the horizon," said Mayor Bass. "We're breaking down barriers and removing the bureaucracy that has kept L.A.'s businesses from thriving. My administration is moving with intention to ensure that our small and local businesses are prepared to take advantage of these major contract opportunities, and today, we're starting to see the results of that work."
"Surpassing $45 million in contracts is a powerful milestone, but what matters most is the impact in our communities. For decades, PACE has supported small and local businesses as they work to stay open, retain employees, and serve their neighborhoods," said Kerry Doi, Founder, President & CEO of PACE. "Programs like ProcureLA reinforce that community-rooted businesses are essential to Los Angeles' future - and we are proud to help position them to compete, grow, and succeed."
Operated by PACE (Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment), ProcureLA was created by the Mayor's Office in October 2024 to build a pipeline of businesses equipped to compete for contracts ahead of major regional events including the FIFA World Cup, Super Bowl, and 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Since launching, ProcureLA has exceeded its benchmarks, including:
Securing more than $45 million in public and private sector contracts for small and local business
Enrolling 100+ businesses in the ProcureLA program
Contacting more than 3,000 businesses
Four local businesses spoke about the impact of Mayor Bass' program, emphasizing how they have experienced increased revenue and access to larger contract opportunities because of ProcureLA:
"Cuernavaca Grill has been proudly serving Angelenos for over two decades in L.A.'s Fashion District. After the onset of the immigration raids last summer, we were facing a significant impact to our business and feared we would no longer be able to stay open," said Nayomie Mendoza, Owner of Cuernavaca Grill."Thanks to Mayor Bass' ProcureLA program, we've been able to keep the doors open, hire more employees, and secure a major contract for the FIFA World Cup. ProcureLA has helped set Cuernavaca Grill on a new path of success and we couldn't be more grateful for the Mayor's leadership."
"As Nappily Naturals & Apothecary continues to expand, we recognize that meeting the natural wellness needs of the Los Angeles community - and communities beyond - requires intentional growth, strong partnerships, and continued investment in our team," said Angela Jackson, Operations Manager for Nappily Naturals & Apothecary. "Through our partnerships with Mayor Bass' ProcureLA program and the PACE Business Development Center, we are building the infrastructure needed to strengthen and support the Nappily Naturals team so they can continue showing up for the community with excellence, compassion, knowledge, and care."
"Wicked Bionic is dedicated to reaching and connecting local government agencies to the diverse communities that make up Los Angeles. As a certified woman-owned small business, we are taking advantage of every opportunity to take that work to the next level," said Dana C. Arnett, CEO of Wicked Bionic. "ProcureLA has given us the resources to expand, grow, and win contracts with more precision and focus. I encourage every small business to reach out to the ProcureLA team and get contract-ready!"
"I'm proud to have grown Hollywood Handy Construction from a start-up taking on small projects to a commercial construction company managing multimillion-dollar projects across Los Angeles," said Alycia Belle, Owner of Hollywood Handy Construction. "The immediate action Mayor Bass took to launch ProcureLA ahead of the LA28 Games has allowed us to prepare, grow, and successfully fulfill citywide contracts that strengthen our public works experience and compete alongside larger firms. Hollywood Handy Construction is better prepared to meet this global moment and all the economic opportunities that come with it."
