Ready for the Call: How West Jordan is Preparing for Next-Generation Fire Response
West Jordan Fire has gotten 4% more calls every year for the last 15 years. That means in 2010 they got about 4,300 calls for the year. In 2025, they got 7,919 calls.
Here are some plans for the future:
-
We just hired seven new firefighters to fill recent retirements. If you want to be part of the team, be on the look out for more open positions!
-
New cardiac monitors are coming to our ambulances in May to provide better care for our patients on the way to the hospital.
-
Six new paramedics are receiving training and will soon be ready to give life-saving care to residents.
-
A new ladder truck has been ordered. With a 48-to-52-month build time, we're acting in advance to meet our future needs.
-
It's time for a new Fire Station on the west side and plans for new Station #56 are in motion. We have purchased the land (9000 S. U-111). The next step is to design a building that will meet our current and future needs with a full turning radius for our trucks, sleeping quarters for the firefighter and paramedics, and equipment space for the lifesaving gear. Once everything is ready, we will fill it and begin service. Stay tuned for updates.
Growth is shown in numbers, but the numbers represent people. West Jordan is determined to protect each individual, no matter how big the city becomes. West Jordan Fire will continue to move forward with the expanding community.
