USDA Designates 7 Indiana Counties as Natural Disaster Areas due to Excessive Rain
Indianapolis, Ind. March 30, 2026 - This Secretarial natural disaster designation allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation, or to refinance certain debts. The FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available, and repayment ability.

Impacted Area: Indiana
Triggering Disaster: Significant rain that occurred April 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025.
Application Deadline: 10/13/2026
Primary Counties Eligible:
- Indiana: Jennings County.
Contiguous Counties Also Eligible:
- Indiana: Bartholomew, Decatur, Jackson, Jefferson, Ripley, and Scott Counties.
