Chief Justice Stuart Rabner delivered the commencement address to graduates of Villanova University's Charles Widger School of Law on Wednesday morning, urging the Class of 2026 to find ways to use their talents to improve lives.
"You are all about to enter a profession where you can serve clients with passion and integrity as you pursue justice and uphold the rule of law, which lies at the cornerstone of our society," Chief Justice Rabner told the graduates. "As you do that, be sure to be open to life's surprises, and take a chance on them as you strive to make a difference."
Chief Justice Rabner asked the graduates to consider volunteering their time in whatever way might be meaningful to them, whether it be through pro-bono work, representing a victim of domestic violence, serving as a court-appointed guardian, or mentoring a young person who is struggling.
"The examples are limited only by our time and our imagination," Chief Justice Rabner said. "What matters is getting started."
At the start of the ceremony, University President Peter Donohue awarded Chief Justice Rabner with the school's Medallion Award in recognition of his achievements.
