Broken Arrow in Motion April 2026

Stay up to date with the various infrastructure projects underway in the April 2026 edition of Broken Arrow in Motion.

  • Houston Street Widening Project between Olive and Aspen-Work to widen this mile to five lanes began in March with the replacement of a nearby water line. Now, the contractor is building the curb and gutter and will begin laying asphalt on the south side of Houston near the end of April.
  • Houston Street, between 9th Street and Old Highway 51-The waterline work is nearly finished. Crews are also building a temporary road along the south side of the street to widen the three-lane section to five lanes.
  • Phase 1 of the Aspen Avenue Improvement Project-The contractor is rebuilding the intersection at Aspen and Jasper Street. Traffic control is in the northwest corner of the intersection as crews install a 60-inch storm sewer pipe.
  • Aspen and Tucson intersection-Lane closures are in place so the contractor can begin expanding the south and west legs of the intersection to five lanes, matching the north and east legs.
  • Melinda Park subdivision-The street resurfacing is underway. Construction is being done in sections, starting in the southwest part of the neighborhood on 63rd Street. Crews are focusing on the curbs, gutters, and asphalt work.
  • Washington Street project, east of County Line Road-The Streets and Stormwater crews have finished reconstructing this roadway and have begun laying asphalt. Once it cures, and depending on the weather, they'll stripe the road to complete the project.
  • HAWK Beacon signal- Pedestrians and bikers using the trail system will soon be able to safely cross Elm Place between Houston and Washington with the assistance of a new HAWK signal. The concrete, ADA ramps, and wiring are finished. The new signals will be installed later this summer when the signal poles arrive. This is the first of three new beacons being installed in the city.
  • Elevated Water Storage Tank-Work continues in south Broken Arrow as crews install a new water line and work on the electrical conduit for the 2.5 million-gallon tank. The project is on target to finish by mid-May.
  • Oak Crest Water Line- The new replacement water line in downtown Broken Arrow is complete. The sewer line is about 95 percent done, and the crews are now restoring the right-of-way.
  • Houston to Washington water line replacement-The Utilities crews are currently replacing the water line on Main Street, from Houston to Washington. Work will pause on May 1 for Rooster Days and resume after the festival. Once the waterline is replaced, Streets and Stormwater employees will begin roadway improvements.
  • Houston Street, from Fort Worth to 9th Street-Utilities Construction crews are replacing another old water line. This work is expected to keep the roadway closed through April. Once the waterline work is complete, stormwater drainage and roadway improvements will begin here.
  • Arrow Forge Innovation District-Crews are installing light poles in the district and should finish in July. Arrow Forge will be ready for business soon!
  • Jail renovation project- A stem wall is in place, and the block has been filled. Electrical and plumbing work will follow. Like many of these projects, this one is possible thanks to voters who approved the propositions of the 2018 General Obligation Bond package.
