REALM Portal: Pre-Licensing Process for Education Providers

The Real Estate and Appraiser License Management (REALM) Portal is part of the pre-licensing process for real estate sales agent and out-of-state broker applicants. This page provides guidance for education providers on the steps students should follow before applying for a license, what information students should provide to their education provider, and how providers can communicate the process to students and train staff.

How the Pre-Licensing Process Works

1. Register for a REALM Portal account

Students who do not have a TREC license number should register for a REALM Portal account to receive a pre-license education application number by email.

Important: Students do not apply for a pre-license education application number. They receive the number after registering for a REALM Portal account. The pre-license education application number is not a license application.

2. Provide the appropriate number to your education provider

Students without a TREC license number should provide their pre-license education application number to their TREC-approved QE provider. Students who already have a TREC license number should provide that number instead.

3. Complete the required pre-licensing education

4. Apply for a license

After completing all required pre-licensing education, students return to the REALM Portal to submit their license application and upload their education completion documents.

Students should not submit their license application before completing all required pre-licensing education.
