M-54 culvert replacement begins July 7 in Genesee County

DAVISON, Mich. -The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $2.4 million to replace the box culvert on M-54 over the Blackmore and Alpine Drain in Genesee County. Work will also include hot-mix asphalt reconstruction, drainage, guardrails and pavement markings.

Traffic restrictions:
Traffic will be maintained with traffic shifts and lane closures. One lane will be maintained in each direction using temporary pavement when needed. To accommodate this work, Clio Road will be closed at the M-54 intersection starting July 20 through the end of August.

Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 20 jobs.

Safety benefit:
Closing the roadway during this type of work is necessary to provide the safest work area possible for crews and motorists. Replacing this culvert will ensure the integrity of the roadway.
